What can I do?

Posted Friday January 5 2018, 9:34 pm

I'm a student, in my second year of university, and I'm starting to look at possible jobs for this summer. I'm just not sure what kind of job to look for, because I'm not sure what kind of job I'll be able to handle.

You see, the past two summers I've had the same job. For 8 weeks, I worked 6 (or less) hour days where I mostly just interacted with one or two other people, and the work was not overly stressful. At the end of every day, I would go home mentally and emotionally exhausted. I almost had a breakdown at work a few times because I was so tired. At the end of the summer I was completely done.

This summer, I need to find a job with more hours that lasts more like 14-16 weeks so I can afford to pay for sc...

During the hiring process to be a Tsa agent, do they check medical records?

Posted Thursday December 21 2017, 10:00 am

I was diagnosed with mental health problems, but I’m fine now and I take medicine. If I tell them will that disqualify me from the job? Will they check my medical records and find out?

How to best wake up for early job and stay awake?

Posted Tuesday November 28 2017, 1:59 am

I'm the same person who posted about taking off a semester to work/save up money. :)

I'm starting to worry about how I'll handle my new job since I'm used to working from home and making my own hours (to a certain degree).

I'm really not used to waking up early and I just found out I'm going to have to wake up at 7am for this job. I tend to sleep through alarm clocks and have had this weird thing my whole life where I'll turn my alarm clock off without even consciously realizing I'm doing it and going right back to sleep. When I wake up I don't even remember turning the alarm clock off, but have had people confirm I did.

I usually wake up around 10am and I am on occasion able to wake up earlier f...

Should I start working at this new job or not?

Posted Thursday November 16 2017, 2:42 pm

I'm being laid off from my job as a scribe in a week and I had already found another job to take it's place as a hostess. I had picked that job because the manager said he would work with my class hours.

I would be taking a big pay decrease, but I think it might be worth it because my last job had me up every night until 5 or 6am and I was always sleeping in on accident until 2pm or so and not getting everything else (like homework) done because I was just too dead tired.

However, right off the bat they want me to work thanksgiving, which is a very big deal to my mom. I always help her prepare and I need to be there because it's also my brother's birthday. When I accepted the job I also wasn't thinking...

How can convince an employer to hire me?

Posted Wednesday October 18 2017, 3:39 am

I am 24 and never had a job really. Ive been volunteering at a hospital for 8 months and I only worked as a cashier for 2 months earlier this year. I really need a job but no one will hire me. I was diagnosed with schizoeffective disorder with bipolar and it held me back from getting a job for a long time. I've been to interviews, they never call me back or they ignore me when I call. I don't know how I should explain why I don't have much experience. I've been applying to caregiver, janitor, cashier jobs. How do I explain why I don't have much experience?

What can I do about being really nervous in job interviews?

Posted Thursday September 21 2017, 6:35 pm

I'm really shy and awkward. The interviewer makes me nervous. My legs shake and I forget about what I'm going to say. Someone told me I don't seem confident when I answer their questions. I'm not outgoing and I don't know how to fake that.

Not in love with my job

Posted Monday September 11 2017, 3:56 pm

24/f

How do you know when you find a job that is the right fit for you? I originally wanted to be a counselor but because I didn't get into graduate school the first semester (I applied late and didn't get into the top 2 schools in the U.S.), I gave up and decided to go into teaching. Part of me thinks I went the easy route because I wanted a career instead of a "job."

I'm not happy with teaching. My first year I taught special education but I didn't like it, I decided to go into a general education setting. This job is harder but on a different aspect. I was told not to "jump ship" yet and to give it a chance before quitting.

Don't get me wrong, I love my students, but I don'...

Interviewed for general education, got offered another position.

Posted Wednesday August 2 2017, 10:51 am

24/f

Let me first say that my previous special education job was difficult. There was not a day where I didn't get yelled at, kicked, pinched, or hit. It was overwhelming. On top of that, there was so much paperwork that I did not completely understand. I have gaps and I did not receive training at this job.

After this experience, I decided to search for a general education job. But I only receive special education job interviews or when I go into an overview for a regular teaching position, I get offered a special education position since they are higher in demand.

I was told that my previous job was very difficult onsidering it was a last-stop school, they did not think it would be as bad as ...

Feeling discouraged

Posted Tuesday August 1 2017, 5:00 pm

24/f

I have recently relocated to another area in Texas and I guess you can say I did things backward. I had a special education teaching job but I resigned at the end of the school year for two reasons:

1) I did not think special education was the right fit for me and decided to look for a general education job. I was told by many of my colleagues they thought I was fit for early childhood to second grade.

2) I moved to a different location with my boyfriend.

I have applied to the school districts near our new apartment. I have applied for elementary, special education (even though I'm not looking for a special education), and ESL. Yet, I have only gone to ONE interview throughout...

My side job

Posted Monday June 26 2017, 2:14 pm

Hello. I am a teacher and this past year, I worked at a terrible school! I was paid very little and could barely survive (I didn't even have enough money for groceries). So, my co-worker told me about how she was making ends meet. I applied and was hired as an online part-time english teacher teaching children in China to read. I am so incredibly grateful for this opportunity. I make about an extra $1000 a month. This past year, it has paid for my groceries, my electric bill, and my phone. It has been a real blessing. Over the summer, I had no job and I was not getting paid from the school I was at last year. So, I've continued to work for this company through the summer. The only problem is that we only get paid once a month. Therefore, it...

Bachelors degree woes

Posted Tuesday June 6 2017, 2:16 pm

Hello, I'm 22 and a small built female. I add small built because it'll play into my question later.

I graduated with my bachelors degree in sociology and psychology a little over a year ago. I'm working in a daycare now to get experience with children. However, the place I am at now, I had put my two weeks in. This place is just very poorly ran, my boss lost a child the other day, the director and assistant director leave to go shopping together all the time, they tell us to lie to parents on progress reports so I just felt that I needed to get out. So, on Friday at the end of this current week, I will be unemployed. I have enough money saved, I live at home still and my car is paid off so I'm not really financially worried...

I really hate working and want to just be a wife, please help!

Posted Friday June 2 2017, 4:11 am

Before somebody calls me lazy, I'm 23 and I've been working since I was 15 and volunteering since I was 9. I'm currently on my way to a Masters degree and an honors student...so no I don't have a lack of will power and I'm not lazy.

I've hated every job I've ever had doing a variety of different things from web design to retail to real estate to office work to call center stuff. I HATE WORKING! I feel like I'm just wasting my life away every time I start a shift. Lately it's been driving me crazy and I want to just quit!

I always think about all the other things I could be doing.
I want to live my life. I enjoy domestic activities like cooking, throwing family events, taking care of my home and pets. I l...

I keep turning back to being a sugar baby because it's the best choice?

Posted Monday April 10 2017, 9:10 pm

I've been a "sugar baby" on and off for three years since I was 19. I've had two "sugar daddies" and gone on dates with other potentials, but they didn't work out for one reason or another.

I don't necessarily like doing it, but the financial and materialistic aspect of it always lures me back in. I always worry about my safety and the fear of being raped or worse because there's really 0 way to protect yourself once you're alone with him.

I haven't had that happen though and my experiences have been really good so far. I was able to make four times what I make at my normal job in a month and finally able to start paying off some of my bills last time, but I had to put a stop to it because...

Posted Friday March 10 2017, 11:45 am

So the other day I had a job interview at MacDonald's and they said that they would call me and tell me if I got the job of not. My problem is that I have an appointment with the dentist Wednesday to have dental Surgery I should be fine to go back to work the next day since I am only having 5 teeth pulled if I get the job. I have a job interview tomorrow and Tuesday one is at MacDonald's and the other one is at Sonic. I have no idea what I am supposed to wear . I know I am supposed to have a resume , but I have no work experience. I do have volunteer experience with my church. I know they will want at least 3 references , but the only person I can think of is my pastor at my church and my cousin since I babysit her son all the time . Will they a:Celtic my cousin as a reference or should I put her husband down as one instead. I have volunteered at several nursing homes and drug rehabs in the past. I don't remember any of the staff's names at the nursing homes or drug rehab centers . What do I need to bring with me to an interview. Will they need my birth certificate ? Please help me!

Forever have I wanted to be an author; am I good enough?

Posted Monday January 23 2017, 2:05 am

May someone please be kind enough to give me constructive criticism, and maybe give me some advice on what areas to improve in? Thank you! :D

This is what I have completed so far. I'm fully aware that it's immensely depressing, but I promise you it's going to soar smoother and more optimistic later on in my novel.

"Done. Beyond done I am of ferociously fighting against myself, against who I am. I cannot function a state of emotional nor mental stability any further than I have for the last eight years.
