Becoming a vet?

Posted Thursday December 10 2015, 7:56 pm

I'm a 19 year old college sophomore and am going through some indesicion to the point that its driving me nuts! You see, I love the idea of helping others, especially animals. It makes me feel so happy and satisfied whenever I can make someone feel better about something or just bring smiles to people's faces. I'm in an English major but I honestly don't feel satisfied with such. Today I went to eat at KFC (I'm currently going through finals, and tend to go to fast foods during this time), and when I came out with my roommate to head back to our apartment there was this poor dog smelling garbage bags. I had some leftovers I was going to save for later, but I felt bad for her so I gave her some of it. That dog has been on my mind the whole d...

What should I do about my current job when I'm moving soon?

Posted Tuesday December 8 2015, 7:27 pm

I'm a college student who currently works as a nanny. I've been a nanny for the same family for about a year now and I've really enjoyed working for the Mom and really care about her, her son and pets. She pays me really well for not having to work very much and it's been perfect for my school schedule.

Before this I'd worked at several other places in either retail management positions or graphic design, but none of them worked out. Although I'm a good worker and very intelligent (straight A honors roll student) I've had a hard time with my past job positions. At my first job I did very well and was promoted to management in less than six months, but was forced to quit when I came down with a lung infection that caused me t...

Is it a good sign that an employer keep in contact with you throughout the

Posted Sunday July 12 2015, 9:39 pm

About 2 weeks ago I had a job interview it seemed to well. I got a tour of the place we talked about scheduling and benefits and what would work for me etc. Since the interview he has called me twice to see if I was still interested and if I was contacted by the hr department to be fingerprinted. When I told him I wasn't contacted and seemed upset that I wasn't contacted so soon after I was and I have my appointment coming up in a couple of days. He says he also wants me to meet the director of the company also. Everytime we talk he asks if I'm still interested. Everyone says I got the job already as long as I pass the background check which I know I will. But I don't want to take it for granted either. He also he told me he interview a lo...

Job search bust

Posted Thursday July 9 2015, 10:27 pm

16/f Canada
I've been looking for a summer job since March break (starting March 13th)and I still haven't found anything! I handed in a few applications to 3 stores with my resume and a cover letter and I haven't heard anything back. I also applied to many stores online as well. My family (especially my mom and grandfather) have been harassing me to get a job and that I need to "sell myself" and I just feel really overwhelmed because I'm only 16 and it's my first job ever and I don't know what to do. I feel like there's nothing that sets me apart from anyone else applying for a job because all I have is my work experience on a farm and me being on the honor roll for 3 years!!!! So how can I learn to sell myself and possibly attain a job this summer???

"When can you start?" interview question

Posted Tuesday July 7 2015, 3:24 pm

I live in Mid-Michigan, and I am applying for jobs all over the state.
Let's say I get an interview with a company in Detroit, which is two and a half hours away from my present location.
If and when I get asked in the interview "When can you start?" what should I tell them?

I know the things I absolutely need to do before I start, if I accept a written job offer from the company, are:

Give my boss a minimum of two weeks notice at my current company
Find an apartment in Detroit
Pack my belongings and move down there

How should I answer the question?

Moving Away From Home for The Summer, & Finding a Job

Posted Wednesday June 24 2015, 12:21 pm

Over the past 24 years of my life, I have never been able to develop a bond with my mother. Recently I have grown sick of her lies. She's lied about nearly being raped, told hurtful lies about people to alienate me from members of my family, and I just really want a break from her.

My boyfriend's mom has said that I could move in there for the summer. I think that this would be a good choice for me. It would give me a break from my home life, allow me to explore the option of living with her son, and get more practice with driving to take my road test. I have been with him for 4 years, and have been wanting to do this anyway.

The problem is that he lives out of state, and I am concerned about getting some kind...

Job Interview at Prestigious Public Relations Firm Scheduled

Posted Saturday June 6 2015, 4:43 pm

I am interviewing for a Financial Analyst Intern position at a top-notch NYC public relations firm.
So far, I have had quite a bit of luck with at least getting an interview at this firm. The recruiter must have e-mailed me the day after I sent my resume in, and the day after I did the phone interview with her, she scheduled an in-person interview with me, with the VP of Finance and a Senior Financial Analyst.
She explained that they are look for people, who are highly ambitious, hungry, and motivated. How exactly does one show these things?
This is very exciting for me, because I have done research on the company. They are the fourth most successful public relations firm on the market, and have been around since 192...

making decisions after graduating from college

Posted Friday May 15 2015, 2:01 am

Hello, I have just graduated college last week with a bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a major in Accounting.

My parents seem to really, really want me to take the CPA exam, but the thing is, I'm not sure if I want to.

Should I take the exam to please my parents?
Or should I go for something I want to go for?

Internship Interview - Forgot to Mention a Project

Posted Saturday May 9 2015, 1:27 am

I recently had an interview that I thought went really well, at a smaller division of a company that is very successful. This is a position that I really want.

One of the questions that I was asked involved any projects that I may have worked on. I mentioned two of them, but forgot to mention another one that I think could be really helpful with me getting the job.

They already seem mostly impressed with me, but I am nervous because I am about to graduate college in another year and I have never interned before. It seems like, even if I think the interview goes well, I never get the job. So, who I am to say that they're going to offer the position to me?

All of these people seem very friendly, l...

Alternative certification for teachers

Posted Wednesday April 22 2015, 12:52 pm

22/f

Hello,

I live in Texas and I graduated with a B.S. in psychology. I realized that I wanted to become a kindergarten teacher or K-4th grade, but I don't want to go back to school. In Texas, we can get an alternative certification, but I don't know how to get it, how to start, or who to ask for this type of information. I asked a friend of mine who is a kindergarten teacher and she told me I would need to take three tests for the alternative certification, "PPR, EC-6 Generalist, and ESL (because they prefer all teachers to be ESL certified). I looked online and I got confused. There is so many different information, but no websites that leads for me to be able to register for the test. and if I did regi...

...helps people? With either mental or physical problems? I don't really want a college degree since I don't want to be in college for long. But I was thinking about a job that I'll have to have a certification on like licensed practical nurse. Or home care aide that also takes certification. It's just I would like to move into my own apartment as soon as I can (I'm 18 atm), and my dream career is to help people, whether they be teenagers, adults or elderly. Do you know any jobs like that?

How to Properly Interview for the Internship You Want?

Posted Thursday March 12 2015, 5:24 pm

I have a job interview for an internship that I badly want next Friday.
It’s working in the controller’s office at a major transportation hub in New York City, easily commutable to where I live in the suburbs. This is a final interview with four people who work in the department where I would be interning. They are looking to hire four interns, and will be making their decisions that day.
One thing that would be great about this, is that it’s not only a paid internship but with permission from the finance department, I could possibly get this counted as a finance elective.
I am so enthusiastic because I have heard great things about the company, it’s well respected, and in the future I would like to work there...

at home job suggestions?

Posted Saturday February 28 2015, 5:06 am

Hey everyone im going to college soon and I want to have a little (preferably alot lol) of change in my pocket. I was wondering if anyone knew of legit ways to make money at home. I'm aiming towards surveys...but the few I've tried require me to pay them or they take too much time for too little or nothing (ex: a 25 min survey only got me 0.50) I'm interested in other options. if it helps I use my smartphone and I also have a laptop. Any suggestions are well appreciated thank you in advance!

My wife lived in Byron Bay, Australia, and she absolutely loved it. I am America. She is South Korea with an American green card, and we currently live in Louisiana. We both really want to move to Australia in around 3 to 4 years. I am a high school English teacher now, and I'm working on my master's and she will be going back to college soon. She is 23 and I am 27. What can we do now to be able to ensure that we can immigrate to Australia in about 3 to 4 years?
