How can I look up my car's VIN number to see what happened with previous owners? I would also like to be able to look one up for a truck I am thinking about buying second hand. Is there any way?

School buses for sale

We would like to get an old school bus and convert it into something we could travel in. Sort of a hippy bus like they used to do? We called a school and they said they didn't know where we could buy an old bus.

Automotive repair shops

How do you take your car in for repair without being cheated? I took my car in once for brakes and they changed belts and shocks and other things without asking me. I had to go to work so I couldn't do anything about it, but I don't want it to happen again. That lady working there really saw me coming and knew just how to play me. :(

So, recently I have decided to try changing my own oil and do some other things on my own car. Because I am a woman it made me think that I get coupons for groceries and all kinds of other things so do car places like the Advance down the street from me ever do coupons or something? I looked in the paper where I get my regular coupons and didn't find anything car-like in there but maybe they put them someplace else?

Are there other sites or ways to check road conditions? Is there anyone to call about specific routes? The site I know about is down right now and with the weather the way it is, I don't want to risk it without knowing what I am getting into! Thanks, and stay warm!

Free license plate search?

Can you help me find out if there is a place to look up a license plate for free? Someone left their baby's blanket on the ground in a parking lot and I ran after them but they didn't see me. I turned it into the manager of the store but I was there today again and after a month it hasn't been claimed, so I don't know what to do. It is hand stitched and personalized from the baby's grandma so I know they would want it back. Yes, I tried the police, no they didn't care. Can anyone help me?

so I feel I am electronically inclined individual so I put and ad up to install keyless start. Then read your advise some hours later and didn't know about air bag blowing or any other dangers do your have any advice or product rec?

Transportation without driving... How do people do it?

So i am dropping out of college next year, and i will be attending beauty school in the fall. the closest beauty school to me is a 30 minute- 45 minute commute on an extremely dangerous highway. the commute is what held me back from going in the first place.. i wanna be able to get to and from my home and school SAFELY.. but i am a HORRIBLE driver. what could i do? the school doesn't do anything transportation-wise. no buses or taxis specifically for the school. i have no relatives who could drive me.. does anyone have any ideas as to how i can get to and from my school? i'm sorry if this is a dumb question i feel pretty lame writing it. most of you will probably say "COME ON, LEARN HOW TO DRIVE," but some people are just no...

Learn to drive online games

I'm learning to drive and my first lesson is with my parents next week.
Don't tell me to wait or get an instructor-I am once I've learnt the basics! But I was wondering if anyone knows any realistic, life like and accurate games for driving, like online E.g: clutch control.
Ideally it'd be a simulator game too.

Question about subs

I use to own a 2002 Ford Taurus and I had a sub put into it. I am not sure the details of the sub I just know a guy that works on cars and he just ordered me one and I paid. It is a Kenwood, it hit pretty decent in my Taurus not super hard but a decent amount.
Now I got rid of my Taurus for a Camry since my Taurus was going down the drain. It is a 2008 Camry and the same sub was put into it. This time though the Sub doesn't seem to hit as loud, the guy that i had do it said," I tweaked it a little because the converter I put in this time had weird settings and if I cranked it up any higher it got all distorted and sounded like crap."
Is there anything I can do to make it ...

I have replaced the alternator, spark plugs, engine coils and battery. My car died the other day I change the spark plugs and it ran for a day or two then died again. What else could it be?

How do you check the transmission fluid on a Jeep Liberty?

I have a 2007 Jeep Liberty, and I can not, for the life of me, figure out how to check the automatic transmission's fluid level!
The only place I can find where it looks like there should be a dipstick, there is a plug, or cap that says something about dealer use only or service use only.
How can I check the transmission fluid, if there is no dipstick?
Can someone please tell me what I should do?

Can't insert a CD in Kia Sportage player

I have a 2007 Kia Sportage and I just got a new CD. I tried to put it in and it won't go in because it feels as if there are 2 bars (an inch on both sides) blocking it. I have a CD Radio installed (it came with the car). I tried doing stuff with the fuses and all of that and I don't want to buy a new or used system. Do you know how I can get the CD in or get those bars out?

Am I being scammed?

About a year ago, we bought 4 new Sigma brand tires for our hatchback. Since then, we've put about 20000 km on the vehicle.
Since the new tires went on, there's been a bit of a wobble, which is only temporarily fixed (for about 2 km) when we get the tires balanced. The last time we took the car in, the tech told us that all four tires have shifted belts. From what I understand, this means that all four tires have a serious manufacturing defect, which seems highly unlikely. They're saying that the tires need to be replaced right away, but my B.S. sensors are flashing.
If anyone out there knows cars, how likely is this scenario? Should we be running out to spend the money on yet another set of tires?

Hey guys, I am a freshman in college without a license. Before you give me grief, I did try for it twice, it's not like I'm not trying at all. The thing is; I can parallel park anywhere, there is a place at my local mall that is perfect practice that I can nail, I can do it in front of my house in between two cones.. but when I get in the car with the man, I fail the parallel parking. I can never get inside the barrels far enough. I think I get too nervous and I don't know how to stop that because I NEED my license. Long story short, the college I go to is pushing all returning students to live in off campus apartments or suites on campus which is so much more money that the traditional hall I am living in now. So, I want to get my license ...

My car has pulled hard to the right for at least a 2 months but since I'm planning a big trip soon I want to solve this problem if I can without spending over 2-3 hundred bucks since the car is a 91. I even noticed the wheel shakes when I take my hands off it. Thank you

Should I Buy a Car with Manual Transmission

I am about to buy a car and I am FINALLY going to get what I've always wanted, a Jeep Wrangler. I really want it to be black and no newer than a 2006 model because I prefer the older looking ones to the newer ones. Last night, I went around looking at cars and found the perfect one except for one detail, it is manual and I've only ever driven automatic. Both of my parents know how to drive manuals and they would teach me if I needed them to, but is it hard to learn? Once you do learn, is it still much harder to drive than an automatic?
