My puppy is having rectal bleeding & not eating :(

Posted Tuesday June 25 2013, 6:54 pm

She hasn't been eating & she was laying on my floor & blood just came out of her bum. It's hard for her to walk and lift herself up. I've been trying to get her to eat. Does it mean she has worms?

dog fight

Posted Saturday June 1 2013, 11:15 am

I went to take a shower and left a croissant on the counter and when I was done I heard strange high pitched noises so I looked around the corner and at the top of the stairs was my boyfriends lab. She was crying and limping, and my much larger male dog was standing at the bottom of the stairs.
They obviously got in a fight over the food, and she didn't win...he took her to the vet this morning, but now my boyfriend will not talk to me or acknowledge me or my dog in any way.
My problem is, he slept downstairs last night, didn't wake me up to go to the vet, and has said maybe 10 words total to me today. I'm upset about her being hurt and I feel like I'm being blamed for this. Obviously I shouldn't have left the food out, b...

non agressive to agressive

Posted Thursday May 30 2013, 7:26 pm

I have two female rabbits and they are generally sociable with me and do not bite or nothing but recently for about 2 days they have been snapping and making squeking noise at me everytime I put food in their cage :/ I only pick them up to put them in their run and leave them for an hour or so to graze on the grass but I cannot pick them up now. I rarely pick them up! Is this behaviour normal for rabbits ?

Dog attack

Posted Monday May 13 2013, 4:02 pm

What should I do in case of a dog attack? We have a family dog and we take her out to do her business at certain times. (On our own property of course) Today I was napping while my mom took our dog outside and another dog, about twice as big as our dog came and approached them. My mom was holding onto the leash trying to prevent the dogs from getting into contact and got herself hurt. She lost a big piece of flesh from the leash's friction and when our dog got loose from her collar she ran for it and the other dog chased her. My mom then ran in the house to call me and by the time we got to the door our dog was there waiting for us and trying to get inside. When we opened it to let our dog in, just as we slammed the door shut, the other dog...

Is this the right dog for me?

Posted Wednesday April 3 2013, 6:11 pm

Hello! I'm thirteen and my parents have recently decided to get me a dog. I live where it usually goes below -35 degrees (Celsius) in the winter, so I was wondering if I should get a husky? My mom doesn't like big dogs but said she might be okay with a husky since it gets so cold here. The only problem is that I don't have any experience with bigger dogs, so I was wondering if they are fairly trainable breed?

Another thing is, I used to walk dogs for people, and this one dog I walked was a husky. And every time he saw another dog, he went completely berserk. He would pull so hard on the leash, I would often fall over. One time, when he saw a cat he did the same thing except I was holding his leash so that my wrist got stuck ...

How do I make my puppy stop eating poop?

Posted Sunday March 24 2013, 5:21 pm

I have a 1 year old puppy and I've had her for nearly a year. She's eaten her poop before, but now I'm getting tired of it. I stepped in it yesterday AND today, when I came home. Why is this? And how can I stop this? She's been doing this for a few months (I thought she would stop. She did, for awhile, but it's started again). Please help me! This is disgusting!

Am i too big?

Posted Saturday March 9 2013, 3:44 pm

Hi. Im 13 and about five foot five and weigh 85 pounds. I have two american shetland ponies, one at six years, the other at seven years. They are not broken to ride, so in the past 10 months, i have broken two arms trying to break them. Am I too big to ride and break them? The are both around eleven to eleven and a half hands. They arent bothered when i sit on them and ride them in the barn, so i dont think im too big, but i would like some other opinions. Also, if you have any tips on breaking them, that would be helpful. Thank you!

P.S.- they are alright with both the bridle and saddle on them.

How cold is TOO cold for a Great Pyrenees dog?

Posted Friday February 22 2013, 7:06 pm

I have an 8 month old Great Pyrenees and I was wondering, how cold is TOO cold to have him outside for a long length of time? I have a fenced in back yard and he stays outside most of the day, unless I feel like it's too cold or the weather is bad. He always comes in at night. Sometimes I don't really know for sure if it would be too cold for him to handle so I end up bringing him inside and putting him in his kennel (which is plenty big enough) but I then feel bad if he has to stay in his kennel for more than a few hours. How do I know if it's too cold? I give him plenty of attention so he's never "neglected" and he gets plenty of exercise, but when I go to work I need to know he'll be comfortable.

Getting a doberman?

Posted Saturday February 2 2013, 7:34 pm

Hey, I've recently decided to move off campus into the apartment next door so I don't have to room with my friends anymore. Not that there's anything wrong with them, I just would like a place of my own. I want a good companion and a great guard dog since I am a woman and I will be living alone. I've done my research on Dobermans and found that they are very intelligent so are therefore good to train as well as loyal. What other considerations should I take in before I adopt a doberman? Anyone else owned a doberman? Comments on this particular breed? Let me know of your opinions on the breed, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks. My family has owned 2 dogs before, and we have one now, but it is my mom's dog.

Cat Aggression

Posted Thursday January 10 2013, 4:51 pm

My 3 yr old cat does not like children or their voices. My husband had a video of a child on the laptop, cat went into attack mode. Week later, video of a female singer, cat went after my husband, did it again the next day, unprovoked. Cat has been downstairs for 2 days, he is loving and affectionate with me. My husband goes to the door and talks to him, opens door a little and gives him a treat. My husband is scared of him attacking again for no reason. And I think the cat is afraid of my husband. Please help. Thank you.
