Q: I really need to delete my account and I can not find where to do that!
You have already received the answer here:

http://www.advicenators.com/qview.php?q=438642

... so why is this in my inbox praytell?

Don't forget to include your password in the e-mail, and the specific reason you want the account closed.

Thank you.

Q: do girls or women get pregnant while using birth control
Yes,

All forms of birth control besides abstinence and surgery have a failure rate.

Create a membership here, and ask about the specific kind of birth control you are interested in.

If you ask your question as a member (free) you can ask it to 30,000 people at once, and get many answers.

See you soon.

Q: I think we should also be able to report suicide. I like how we have report abuse.

thank you...
Hi there,

Could you be a bit more specific?

If you mean someone telling someone else to kill themselves, that is abuse, and you should report it.

If you are talking about someone saying they want to kill themselves, well, best if you try to talk them out of it.

We have no way of doing anything else about it. This is just a website, and we don't know who the people are or anything like that.

If you meant something else, please explain in the feedback you leave.

Thanks.

Q: Hi, I have read all the rules about why questions are deleted and such. My question has been deleted because "It has been given the lowest rating possible by five level 1 moderators". My question was well written, short, and too the point. I asked for suggestions for a new screename. Why is this unnacceptable?
Hello there,

After reviewing your account, it is very plain to see why the questions were voted down.

You weren't asking for advice, you were asking people to create something for you. There is a difference.

Advice:

"I need help choosing between the following:

Screenname1
Screenname2
Screenname3
Screenname4
Screenname5
Screenname6

... can you help me?"

A job offer:

"I need a new screen name. It should be original."

... see the difference?

Even if people were inclined to be creative on your behalf, you didn't give them anything to go on.

Usually something like this gets quite a few answers, and most of them are like:

"How about:

SoPatheticIcantBeOriginalWithoutHelpfromStrangers"

Most of the other actual smart assed remarks people get banned for posting in a question like that are not polite, so I will only quote the one.

I hope that helps you.

Q: have a constant chatroom going on... not just one at a set time. it's easier for people who want advice FAST.
The chatroom is always going on.

There are special times when you are more likely to find people in the chat.

I don't know why people assume you cannot go into the chat whenever you wish.

Have fun.

Q: Why can't unregistered users report abuse?
The tracking system tracks all abuse report submissions by user ID.

If you don't have a user ID there is noting to assign the abuse report to.

Why don't you have an account?

Q: I was just wondering why the profile pictures are restricted to 15Kb or less when most pictures are actually larger. I would very much like to post a picture of myself on my advice column, but find myself unable to do so due to the size (40+Kb on average). Thank you for any help you might offer.
Hi there,

This is meant to be a thumbnail size picture of you, like the writer profile picture in an on-line magazine.

You can host a picture elsewhere and link to it here if you wish, or you can take a photo and crop/edit it down to 15K if you like.

Thanks,

DangerNerd.

Q: My question is my account is not working, my account is Lo & my password isnt working & I always use the same password for everything & the same email for everything. The problem is that it says there is no user with the email that i use. Is there any way that you can tell me what the email adress was used for me account. Thanks. -Lo
Hello there,

You really should have written an e-mail here, but I will answer anyway in hopes you see this.

There is no e-mail specified for your account.

I cannot do anything about it, since you didn't provide an e-mail I have no way to verify that the account belongs to you.

If you aren't entering your username is ALL CAPS like you did when you signed up, you will not be able to log in.

Give that a try, and e-mail me at:

Q: yall are ruining adicenators...u cnat put codes in ur column...and u cant do hearts and stuff anymore...advicenators isnt as good as it used to be...!
This site is about giving advice. If you want to start a site where you can do hearts and stuff, by all means go do it, but here we have more important things to worry about.

Q: I recently asked a question on your site why you were allowing marquees, coloring, and other cool extras for HTML codes. My column looked really good like that, and i was just wondering if it was ever going to come back to normal! I hope it does because me, and a lot of other people really like using the codes! Thanks for your time!

-Brianna
Our server has been compromised lately, that's why we were down for a day last week. Until we patch up security here, we can't let you use that stuff anymore. I know people are upset that they can't use codes, but trust me, people will be even more upset if the site is forced to shut down because we're getting hacked.

Q: get a chat room
Okay, good idea.

Q: Some people are not asking for advice... but are merely asking questions. For example, I came across this,"Ok, i just got "Young and Hopeless" by Good Charlotte at a yard sale, but it didnt have a case, so i was wondering if anyone knew the Titles of the songs....in track order Please! Thank you a ton!"

There is no advice to give... this person could have easily just looked it up using google. I doubt there's any way that we could be rid of questions versus advice seeking... but I just though I would bring it to your attention... as it's highly annoying to search for people to give advice to, and find people who merely have a simple question.
I totally agree with you, trust me. We've asked our moderators to rate stuff like that down, so it gets taken off the search pages quickly, and the FAQ states that questions are supposed to be advice-related, unlike the one you mentioned.

It's just tough because for every comment I get from someone like you saying that bad questions are getting through, I get another one from someone else telling me I should let every question be approved and never deleted. It's a tough spot.

Q: Well, I believe that for the background choices you should have one of every color. Bright red, and orange, yellow, green, blue purple, and pink. But I wish that they were free backgrounds.
I don't understand your question. Backgrounds are free.

Q: Hi, Advicenators_admin.

I've been using a little HTML in my questions, like most columnists do, but I've found that now the HTML is not working. I've checked, and I'm using the correct HTML, is this a glitch? You didn't switch to BB Code, did you? I read through the FAQ, and there was nothing about HTML in answers, only in questions. What's up with this?
- Ignorance_Combatant
You mean answers?

We had some people forgetting to close tags and it was screwing up question viewing pages. It should still work like it did before on your column, but I had to change question viewing until I can work some code in to keep people's answers separate.

Q: activate my account
What account? Haven't had a new paid one since the 16th.

Q: this is my suggestion: You have a policy on not being able to post a question for the whole site to see if you are not logged in. If it is a very personal question, people should be able to post it to the entire site without giving their identity away.
~Mayhem~
Since only 15 users total get to see your identity when you post a public question, your not really giving a whole lot away. If we really kept it private we wouldn't be able to do anything if one person was repeatedly abusing the system.

Q: Could you tell me what the requirements to become a level II moderator. I was looking for it on here but I could not find it. Thanks in advance.
http://www.advicenators.com/faq.php?f=69

Q: Up until recently, I had quite a bit of feedback (over 60 times) and the majority of them disappeared. I'm not sure if it was a glitch or change in the system (only allowing rating with comments), but it appears other people still have all of their ratings. Is there a problem or is this typical?
Ratings that are 30 days old don't count anymore. They should still be visible on your pages though... I'm not sure what you meant by "disappeared" but if they really aren't there let me know.

Q: Hey, it's Mandee. I was looking through my column and I typed a pretty long answer to one of my questions. But when I looked at it there was nothing but the first sentence. So I went to edit answers and everything I typed to her question was on there correctly. To get to the point, I wanted to know why on my column does it only have the first sentence, and how do I fix this? Thank you so much!

Column name is just Mandee if you want to take a look.
The most common reason for this is that you're using some weird character that the site doesn't like. I'd be curious to know what that character is, since you're not the only one with that issue, so if you have a specific answer to point me towards that'd help. Until then, make sure you're only using plain letters and spaces and punctuation.

Q: In my inbox it says I have 2 new questions but when I click on inbox it shows up nothing please help and e-mail me at

ppookie13
It was just a little site glitch that should be fixed now.

This advice column is for suggestions, comments, or error reporting about advicenators. If you'd like to suggest a new category, ask me a question. If you'd like to whine, bitch, or complain about advicenators, you may whine, bitch, or complain to me.

Three rules though:
1) Do not ask me for life advice. We have several thousand other members that do that.

2) Do not ask for help, or ask how to do something, or ask about
how something on the site works, unless you've read every word of our help pages and you're sure it's not addressed there.

3) Do not ask me to ban someone or investigate abuse. We have an entire abuse system set up for that.

If you disobey one of these rules, I'll delete your question.

Some guidelines about suggestions:
If you offer a suggestion that I find interesting, I might just ignore your question so it stays in my inbox as a reminder of something to do. Don't be upset that I don't answer you, and don't delete your questions (because then I'll forget!)

If you have three suggestions, please ask three separate questions, that way I can address each one individually. It's a real pain when people ask one question with like twenty different topics in it; I can't keep them straight.
