I came here to answer computer questions. (This used to say "...and nothing more.")

What I meant was, I don't know how much help I would be with other things... NOT that I would be upset if you asked a non computer question!

Ok here is the problemo, since i bought my car February 25, 2004 iva had a major transmission leak and ive done everything i can to fix it, the problem is i dont know where the leak is, i dont know if its from the gasket, the pan, or the transmission its self(if its from the transmission im gunna shoot meh self) anyways, ive replaced the gasket TWICE, and looked carefully at the pan and there are no leaks, now i did strip one screw hole in the transmission but it was leaking before that so it was not that, anyways, if your gunna try to act cool and answer with some smart comment just dont waste your time cause im not one that cares for that stuff, if you can help me thanks alot. (link)
Here's the best places to start:

The seal where the shift linkage enters.

The lines that run to the radiator for cooling.

The front and rear main seal of the tranny.

You will likely have to have a shop change those for you unless you have the equipment to pull the transmission completely out of the car.

Let me know which it was,

Hi, right off the bat if you know nothing about the looks of classic cars from the early 70's and back dont even respond, if your going to respond just to say a color and dont know what a valiant looks like, go to google and type in 1968 valaint and look for one you lazy bum, but onto the question. Does anyone know of any good colors to paint a 1968 Valiant100 4 door sedan. i do ont want two tone, nor do i want metallica, also i do not want strips just one straight color that you think looks good on a valiant, you can also look at my profile picture and you will see my car. (link)
The car looks terrible in black. Made worse by the fact that black will show every wave and flaw in the sheet metal. If you paint it dark blue, it will look like a government car... Powder blue is hard to go wrong with. They called it Hawiian Blue, and it seems like it was the most popular color for about 8 years.

I like the brilliant yellow color, they called it Sunfire yellow.

Here's a link to a paint chip sheet:

http://autocolorlibrary.com/cgi-bin/search/searchpic.pl?1968-plymouth-pg01.jpg

...It is faded, but at least you will know the right names of the factory colors when you call for paint.

Here is a better list of colors, but it is just names and codes:

Let me know what you decide,

where is the radiator located in an 1990 acura legend, and how do i put in the antifreeze? (link)
There shoudl be a plastic tank under the hood, it should have a cap labeled "engine coolant." Look on the side of the bottle, there should be markings indicating the full level. Check your manual for more.

Ok, I have an 85 Daihatsu Charade.. It has done 180k kms. Recently (during night only) it's been shutting itself down, the mechanic says its because the oil fumes are going through the engine and it doesn't like breathing it. So I was wondering what are some easy, fast ways to reduce or eliminate these fumes?(FYI It's only during the night that I have this problem)

Also, My alternator is only putting 13ish Volts to the battery (No where near enough). How can I get it pumping out more voltage? thanks. (link)
With the weak alternator, and the fact that it only dies when you have your headlights on... It might be time for a new mechanic. ;-)

Battery shop should be able to run a free diagnostic for you.

Hey does anyone know how to get rid of viruses that replicate everytime you destroy it?? should i just get a new PC or wat?? (link)
Have you done a google search for the NAME of the specific virus that your anti-virus reports when in removes them?

If not, that is a good place to start.

Free on-line virus scan:

Don't buy a new machine. Write if you need more help.

Free virus scan on-line:

Hi
disregarding the old adage,"If it looks too good
to be true,it probably is".....WELL.......I've
just seen an advert in a very reputable magazine(Saga),offering broadband speeds for £24.99 per year!!...www.onspeed.com......What advice would
you offer anyone thinking of taking this on???
I am a senior citizen and would grab this with open arms.
thankyou
regards...abhock
(link)
A quick google search found this:

http://www.computershopper.co.uk/shopper/reviews/56591/onspeed.html

...and this:

http://www.solutionsreview.com/ONSPEED_faster_internet.asp

It is like all these in the US as well, does wonders for web, but compresses the images to an extent that would bother me. Maybe not you.

If you can afford broadband, it would be a better choice. If not, you may be able to get by with this.

I hope this helps.

The situation is as follows:
-I would like to buy a digital camera
-I would like fairly decent zoom ability
-I would like removable storage
-My budget is $200
I've been trying to do some research but I'm feeling pretty confused. There are so many options and I know so little about all of them. Any advice from people who actually have a digital camera or know a fair amount about them would be fantastic. Is it possible to get what I want within my budget? What brands should I look for?
(link)
The real problem is the: "I would like fairly decent zoom ability" requirement. Sony makes some really nice small cameras in your price range. Best of them has 3x zoom.

You may JUST scrape by pricewise, but someone already mentioned that the accessories will probably push you over budget.

If you tell me what your photographic goals are, I may be of better service.

If you are sexually active, I hope that you will consider going to the doctor and getting tested. It could be nothing, but better safe than sorry.

I'm having several different problems with my Internet connection right now . . . .

1. I can't access ANY secure servers. That includes eBay, Amazon, and my mom's banking website.

2. When I try to log into MSN Explorer, it says that it can't log in because there's a problem with my connection.

3. When I try to log in to MSN Messenger, it says my password is wrong. I know it's not because I had a friend try it at her house. (AFTER I was having the password problems, so even if she had changed my password that wouldn't be it. ^~)

Does anyone know how to fix these problems? (link)
Have you tried installing firefox, just to see if the problem is systemic, or browser specific?

I would do that. You may also wish to check your settings: tools>InternetOptions>Advanced>Scroll down until you see SSL2.0

Make sure that box is checked as well as the other SSL checkboxes.

Let me know if this is helpful,

My computer sucks.

Everytime I try to go onto any site that has anything run by Java, IE just shuts down. It doesn't say that anything is wrong, it doesn't give me an error pop-up or anything.

I've tried re-reinstalling Java. That worked for a week.

I've also tried downloading Firefox, thinking there might be something wrong with IE. But it does the same exact thing.

Does anyone have any idea why this is happening or how I could fix it? (link)
Ok, here's the deal: If you have installed the SUN Java JRE package, go into add and remove programs... Remove as many installs as you find. You see, when you upgrade it leaves the old one there. Then, re-install the latest JRE, and you should be ok.

Also make sure you have run the basics an on-line virus scan:

http://housecall.trendmicro.com

...and Adaware if you don't already have it:

http://www.lavasoftusa.com/support/download/

Let me know how you do,

I need a standard format for entering Main Distribution Frame (MDF) records for voice (link)
The one I have seen used would be:

8kbps High Quality Vector Quantisation

...If you aren't looking for the encoding standard, please reply with more information on your current setup.

If you are using an IBM OS setup, you should find answers on their site for connectivity issues.

Hey does anyone know of any great websites that I can make my own free website but as good as this awesome website or as good as www.bored.com?I will rate a five for everyone who names a website for me!!! (link)
Just a note: I found this in the FAQ for this site: "...This site costs several hundred dollars to run every month."

Just something to keep in mind.

I am a swimmer and I get most of my excersize. I was wondering how I could keep in shape when it's over. I don't have the money to go to the gym.

(link)
Have you considered bicycling? Many swimmers also bike to keep their leg tone going.

If you live in a city, there may be a YWCA/YMCA at which you could swim for free or very cheap.

my step-dad made me download mozilla firefox because it is supposed to be better than microsoft internet explorer.. so my question is.. is it really better? and i also am having a problem seeing my mail on optium online (link)
It is like anything else, if you learn how to use it, it is a marvelous thing. There are a few websites you will need to use IE with, but they are getting fewer and fewer as firefox takes off.

I set it to open new links in a new window, not a tab. That works for me.

My boyfriend is having his confirmation in May and he's asked me to pick his confirmation name for him. I'm not really a religious person so I'm really not sure what names would be appropriate to pick for him, or a name that would "flow" well with his name. Does anyone know of a site they could refer me to so I could look at names, or if anyone could suggest a name. My boyfriends full name is Timothy James Walsh, by the way. Thank you so much if you can help! (link)
Seriously, he is supposed to pick it. That might actually get him in trouble, and he may not even know that.

Ask the priest and, if he says it is OK, go through the previously suggested list of Biblical names and see which sounds best.

Here's quite a list:

http://www.ballina.net/babynames/

You might also sit down together and have a good laugh at the ones that DON'T work well. ;-)

I'm a grade 10 student, and my favourite class is art. Art is the one class I go to whenever I can (except for when I'm sick) and it's the class I try my hardest in. Except, it seems like it's the class I'm doing the worst in. I'm not good in academics, at all, and art is really the thing I want to be, but I just seem to suck at it. Whenever I'm working on a project, I always try to make it better, and I end up screwing it up real bad. It just seems that everything I like to do, or am interested in, I'm horrible in. But the stuff I'm not interested in, I'm mediocre. I just don't know what to do. I just feel like dropped out of high school--it's SO frustrating! (link)
Seriously... The best artists are NEVER happy with their work. The truly GREAT artists learned when to stop trying to improve the work and call it good.

Let's say you are painting: When you get to a point where you start going "this needs this, and more of that, but not so much of the other." STOP PAINTING! Get a new canvas, and put all the new ideas into the next painting.

Another thing to remember: You haven't done everything yet. Some people go half their life doing things they are mediocre at. One day they find THE thing. It could be programming in PHP (Have you done that yet?) It could be autobody repair and hotrod building. I know someone who waited tables for 40+ years. He picked the places he worked carefully, and gave excellent service. He made more than most 4 year degreed people I know. He LOVED helping people.

There is something out there that turns your crank so to speak, you just haven't found it yet.

With me it was computers... In 1982 it was NOT cool to be the computer geek. Fortunately I am a HUGE computer geek, as in large built, so I survived. ;-) I fell in love with computers, and have been involved ever since.

Art, on the other hand, is subject to the tastes of the viewer. Why do you think your art sucks? Did someone else tell you that? If it is, consider this: Most of your fellow students probably have the I.Q. of a salad fork. What could they POSSIBLY know about art?

For that matter, what do YOU know about art? Have you studied about any of the great masters? I don't mean from your art class books, I mean at the library, on-line etc.

When you find out that all that they went through, and how they died... Well, let's just say it is quite an education. :-)

Of all the artists I have met, would you like to know the happiest kind? People who can airbrush.
No kidding. One guy does custom art on t-shirts and blank license plates at car shows and swapmeets. Sounds shitty? Nope, he gets to complete a work of art in 10 to 30 minutes and gets paid more than a dollar a minute for his time. You try to beat that wage anywhere. ;-)

Now the best part... He always thought his art sucked. One day someone introduced him to an airbrush. He's never looked back.

I hope this encourages you,

DangerNerd
