HAIR DYE MISHAP

Question Posted Friday September 11 2015, 11:52 pm

okay so I was so excited to dye my hair deep purple with special effects. it's gotten amazing reviews everywhere i go and my sister tried it and it turned out beautifully.

but for some reason, mine not only turned my hair purple, but my entire bathroom and my whole body!! I don't know what happened! I followed the directions; cleaned my hair, let it dry, then I added the hair dye to my hair, and it was super messy. so glad i had gloves. i let it sit in my hair for about 30-45 minutes. then I washed it out in the shower and I noticed right away something was wrong when I opened my eyes and saw that my hands were purple! I closed my eyes and washed as much as I could, used shampoo, wiped down with some dove soap, then got out and left two neat purple foot prints on the bathroom floor.

but my whole body is purple. it's streaked and splattered everywhere!! agh!! even worse, I was sitting there about an hour after my shower, contemplating that it wasn't so bad when I ran my fingers through my hair and the purple came off on my hands!! What do I do?!

Hi dear!! I run into this problem frequently!
Next time you color your hair,be sure to put Vaseline all around your foread and ears,as this will help stop sticking hair dye to your face!
Here are so helful ideas!

Vinegar
Hair stylists recommend a vinegar wash to strip hair of undesirable results from coloring. Vinegar is often used for countless projects around the house and you should have it at hand in a kitchen cabinet. You won't need to do an entire vinegar wash if you're only trying to remove the color from your skin. Washing your hair with vinegar with help to strip the color from your hair, so assuming your like your hair color, avoid getting vinegar in your hair. Apply vinegar generously to stained skin using a cosmetic sponge or cotton pad. Using a circular motion, gently rub affected area, applying more vinegar as needed.

Baking Soda
Baking soda in a gentle abrasive that will help to remove the dye from your skin. Create a small amount of baking soda paste by mixing a few drops of water with 1 tbsp. baking soda. Rub over dyed area of skin using a circular motion, then rinse and repeat if necessary.

Toothpaste
Toothpaste can be used to remove unwanted hair dye from you skin. It contains a gentle abrasive that will slough away the hair dye. Most toothpastes contain baking soda, so the effectiveness of toothpaste is mostly due to that.

Other options
Vinegar, baking soda, or toothpaste should successfully remove the hair dye. If not, other remedies include cigarette ash or hair spray rubbed onto the affected area in a slow, circular motion.
