Dragonflymagic answered Friday April 10 2015, 10:10 pm:
Much against a popular but untrue belief out there, women don't become officially pregnant the day they had sex. An egg could get fertilized, but until that egg travels to attach itself to the lining of the uterus, she is not officially pregnant. It can take up to a week for the fertilized egg to reach its destination. Therefore if an egg got fertilized around the date of the 17th, then a week later, while having sex again, you could be truly pregnant at that time. If fertilization didn't occur until the 2nd time of 26th, then you'd end up pregnant (officially) up to a week after the 26th. So yes, you could be further along and the fetus a week or so older. But a doctor is pretty good at narrowing down a target due date and are usually pretty close at that. If you're worried as to a week difference by time of delivery in case anyone asks. it is common for babies to come up to a week earlier or later than the Dr. figures. Usually with a first child, they tend to go to the later dates. No body ever concerns themselves over such a difference, as long as the child is healthy and not in stress in utero is all the Drs. want to see.
