Itchy clit

Question Posted Friday April 10 2015, 1:08 am

okay, so i am 16 years old and i AM sexually active but haven't had sex in about a month. A few days ago, my vaginal area has been quite itchy and it's really bothering me. I examined myself, and seen little white small bump like things on the "inside" of my vaginal wall. Also my clitorious is very red and swollen. Someone please help, ASAP.

Also, know someone is going to say I need to see a doctor but there are no gynecologists around my area

Yes you do need to see a doctor. Most likely you have a yeast infection or vaginitis. You could try some over the counter products such as Monistat though from your description you my need an antibiotic to fight off the infection.

Your family practice doctor does have the skills to diagnose and treat either of these problems and the bladder infection that could result if you wait too long to see your doctor.

If you do need to see a gynecologist or feel you must see a gynecologist your local hospital should have a department of Gynecology. Contact the hospitals patient referral line for an appointment to see one of their staff Gynecologists.

What ever you decide to do not wait as I said if you wait too long this can turn into something worse if left untreated. If there are any 24 hour clinics staffed by doctors in your area you can be seen by one of today as you can either just walk in or call for an appointment. You then follow up with a visit with your own doctor. By going to a 24 hour clinic you get started on antibiotics this much sooner.

Could be vaginitis or a yeast infection. If its a bad case like it sounds, even though there are a few things you can try, it won't help. I've had an occasion or two in life where I needed special antibiotics from a Dr. to fight the infection. I learned quickly not to let it go untreated even a few days and use home remedies the moment I first felt something.

So although everyone would agree you need to see a Dr. since you say there are no gynecologists, check with a general practice physician as many have enough knowledge in this area to cover the basic infections that women are prone to get.
You may be allergic to the substance condoms are made of, latex or rubber and that has brought on mighty itching for me. Here's a good link to answer some questions on itching.

The article says if no improvement in two days, then you will need to see a Dr. I've never used yogurt in or outside the vagina but it certainly cant hurt. Just get plain without sugar. If you can find plain Kefir yogurt drink, it has 12 of the live enzymes compared to the one only in regular yogurt. I only buy Kefir now. If your local grocery doesnt carry it, ask them to consider ordering it. If taking by mouth, then a flavored Kefir sweetened with Honey is okay. Its the enzymes that will help.

And here's a link on the product Monistat, good for treating yeast infections and itching and irritation. I always keep a fresh tube on hand at home so I can use it the moment I have a problem.

From what I've learned over the years, douching is a no-no in case you do that. It washes away both the bad and good bacteria and what happens is the bad bacteria comes back faster and multiplies, getting out of hand without good bacteria there to balance it out. The interier vaginal area is its own ecosytem, having its own natural way of cleansing you on a daily basis, the clear to yellow residue you find on panties when healthy down there. As with any skin irritation if not treated, it can get worse, same for vaginal problems and the skin down there is much more sensitive. You may be allergic to latex of condoms but since your last time was a month ago, I'd say its unlikely.
A female can have an off smelling day. Not quite normal but not too bad either. I just clean myself in shower when My hands are fully cleaned and have no soap on fingers. I insert fingers and swish around, then smell whats on the fingers until after repeat several times, the fingers no longer carry the odor. The sitz baths are good too but unless a lady had a bidet toilet in her home, the flushing and rinsing of that area is unlikely to happen often. You can do those if you're more comfortable with that. When I use Vagisil, some come with a 7 days worth and applicator. Ask the pharmacist in case they have it by another name. If after the prescribed time its not gone, you'll have to see a general practice Dr. to get an exam and proper medicine. Make yogurt a fairly regular part of your diet. Don't use perfumed soaps down there. I actually avoid any soap since I've had issues with soap period, even non scented. Hope this helps.

Either make do with any general practitioner, or go out of your way for a gynecologist. Or take your question to Planned Parenthood. They'll steer you right and take good care of you. Or else if the real problem is money or personal documentation, you might even be able to search out free care.
