I'd like to make some homemade chinchilla toys for my little guy and i want to know if they can digest paper mache?? My little Joey is a chewer to the core! and i dont want to make a mache formula that might be toxic in anyway. can they have flour? is there any ingredients in a traditional glue, water, flour paper mache mix that they cant have? and if so what can i substitute instead?

MadameFrappe answered Thursday October 23 2014, 6:27 pm: Hi, I'm MadameFrappe. I used to have a chinchilla and she loved to chew nonstop too. I used to make little play pins and toys for Chloe and here are some tips you should know:
1.) Animals know what they can and cannot eat. if they chew on the toy you decide to make for them, they'll know if it was toxic or unedible for them.
2.) Also, these pets (And others) can tell if they're eating/tasting something that isn't gopod for them. So, you can go ahead and make Joey toys, but if he doesn't chew them or play with them, it may be because its not safe.
Observe what you are using to make the toys. If Joey wont touch your toy, it, like i said, may be unhealthy or toxic for him. Try talking to a vet, or search online for ways you could keep ypur little guy busy! :)
HOPE THIS HELPS!
