pooping bright red blood

If you go to the bathroom and poop bright red blood what does this mean? I am a woman and don't have periods anymore. 57 yrs. old.

You might have hemorrhoids. If it happens consistently it is definitely not normal and I would consider going to an actual doctor to get it checked out. It could possibly be something as serious as colon cancer. If I were you, I would not take my chances of it being something really serious. Better safe than sorry, I would make an appointment.
