I have a sore throat right noww, it hurts a lot and I can't stand it. I'm taking a medication ,but the strange thing is that this it happens to me often. My throat gets better and after about a month it appears again. What may be happening? It's awful since even when I'm walking the pain gets even worse.
There are many reasons a person gets sore throats as well as why they return so often. The first reason for them returning is if you are treating them with over the counter medications.
Over the counter medications are meant for viral infections. Which would be a sore throat cause by the common cold. These medications are not strong enough to treat a bacterial infection if that is what you have. This takes a lab test to tell the doctor if you have a bacterial infection, strep, and what antibiotic is appropriate to rid it.
If you do have a bacterial infection and are taking an antibiotic the normal course of drug treatment is 10 days. Some bacteria are drug resistant and require a longer course of drugs or a stronger drug. It is also necessary you take the drugs as directed each day without missing any doses.
If you do have a bacterial infection and do not finish the medication or are not taking it as directed. The results are that the infection returns. If you have a viral infection then and it keeps returning then you need to do a good cleaning in the kitchen and bathroom to get rid of the rhino germs that are causing this or you will keep reinfection yourself.
One other thing. Buy two new toothbrushes. Throw your old one away and use one of the new ones until any new medication prescribed by your doctor is completed. Then throw that one away and start using the other new one. The reason for doing so is the germs, specifically the Rhino virus can live on your toothbrush and re-infect you [ adviceman49's advice column | Ask adviceman49 A Question ]

You said you are taking medicine. If it's something you got at the drugstore, taking more of it isn't gingn to help.
If its something your doctor gave you, I'd ask him/her if they checked for strep throat. If so and the medication he gave you isn't working, he/she will need to be aware that the medication isn't working so they can schedule you to have tonsils removed. You should see your doctor and ask about it since it's so frequent! [ xosodapopx3's advice column | Ask xosodapopx3 A Question ]
