Free texting apps like kik?

Can anyone tell me some free texting apps I can download to my iPad that are like kik? I already know of LiveProfile and kakaotalk.

I live in the usa, if it makes a difference.

I'm answering my own question in case anyone has been tracking it for an answer themselves. I've found TextFree and TextPlus, I highly recommend both..
