I'm afraid to drive. I fully admit that. The thought of handling this huge car terrifies me. Plus things like parallel parking and backing up? Forget it.
I don't even have my permit yet but I'm working on that since I don't need to actually get behind the wheel for that. I'm not really afraid as a passenger. I do notice that I usually constantly hold on to something while in the car with someone and I tense up when a car even remotely looks like it has a chance of hitting us.
Anyway, I can't live my life not knowing how to drive. I don't wanna be THAT person or THAT friend that always needs to be picked up and driven around. I can't work without being able to drive also.
I live in a small town out in the country, there are no taxis or buses. I NEED to drive but my fear keeps stopping me every time I get even a little bit motivated. How can I overcome this?
Also don't suggest a driving school. I nor my parents definitely don't have the money for that and I'm uncomfortable with the thought of other people that aren't my parents trying to teach me.

Think: if it really scares you that much and everything, you should sit down with maybe your Mom (since she is a girl too) and be like, "Oh Mom, I need to tell you somehting. I've been thinking ... and I just thought it might be cool if you taught me how to drive?"). And if you're parents say you can not drive, get a friend to teach you, a close one. That's what I did in the fifth grade. Or try. On Sunday afternoons or when you're not busy, get the keys of the car and hop in with somebody else (who knows how to drive) and ask them for pointers. Even learning how to put the keys in can help. Try. Just try. And one day, it might come to you.

Start small!! Find a parking lot or a large open space and drive around aimlessly. Practice parking in a spot that doesn't have any cars around it then practice backing up.
Also, simply remember to breathe and that the more you drive the better you'll get :)
