Should I get STD tested?

Question Posted Sunday January 13 2013, 1:59 am

A week ago I went to Florida to visit my boyfriend. It's a long distance relationship and we engaged in sexual activity for the first time.

He fingered me, and I gave him blow jobs a few times, swallowing. Half way through the trip my clitoris became a bit sore and when I got home I went to the doctor. She said it was most likely just a fungal infection and gave me an antibiotic. After that, the pain went away quickly.

However, now I'm really worried. I was talking to my boyfriend on the phone about going on birth control before our next visit and I discovered that he had not gotten STD tested after his last girlfriend who he had sex with, because she was a virgin prior.

But I don't trust his ex-girlfriend and I know people lie or you can get STDs from oral sex as well.

Should I get tested for STDs, and if so, which ones?

Am I wrong to ask my boyfriend to get tested as well, even if his ex was a virgin?

He thinks I'm being paranoid.

YES, you should always get checked for an STD after sex! But in your case you should still get checked, if you have one they can fix it with meds depending on what kind it is. But dont worry Gods there. :)

There is nothing wrong with getting tested, it's better safe than sorry.

It couldn't hurt one bit to get tested! Just to be safe I would. When you go into the doctor tell them that you want to be tested for everything and aything that you can. At my doctor I had to specifically ask to be tested for HIV/AIDS so ask them what all STDs they are going to test you for.

I would tell your BF that it is very important to you that he gets tested as well. That you aren't being paranoid because there is a chance that his previous GF might have had something. Tell him you aren't willing to be sexually active with him anymore unless he goes through with it. If he really cares about you he will do it.

This is really too important to let go. Stand your ground and let him know that you aren't budging and he has to go get tested to be with you in any sexual way!

I hope this helped! :)

You can get STD by simply being in sexual contact with someone. There are many ways to get it actually. Sharing drinks, If someone was bleeding and the blood came into contact with an open womb. Etc.

Also just to correct you, Someone can be a virgin and still have an STD. There are people out there that are carriers of HIV meaning That if they come into sexual contact with someone they very well can pass it on.

No, I don't think it is wrong to ask at all as if you have been or are sexually involved with him you have that right. In fact I would recommend all your partners to be tested as you can never be too safe.
