Vehicle Maintenance Program

Question Posted Monday June 18 2012, 9:37 am

So I am looking online to buy a car and I keep seeing the same thing on different auto places... what is a "Vehicle Maintenance Program" exactly? Is it like they do all your oil changes and tires or is it more than that? If so then what kind of things do these cover, do they cost a lot and are they worth the money? THANK YOU!

You have asked a great question.

There are many different types of vehicle maintenance programs. The cost of these programs vary based on what they provide. If you are buying a new car as opposed to a used or as they are now called previously owned car. A vehicle maintenance program that does not pay for things such as oil changes, tires, brakes and those things considered to be part of preventitive and normal maintenance. Then you are paying for something that is already covered in your new car purchase under warrenty. What you really want is and extended coverage package to extend you new car coverage.

There are vehicle maintenace packages that you can purchase that will cover normal maintenace. They are costly and my thoughts are the cost out weigh the benefit.

If you are buying a used car then a VM package does make sense depending on what it covers. You want a package that offers bumper to bumper coverage. another words if anythings breaks they fix it during the period of coverage. If it also includes tires, brakes and oil changes thats a plus but not a requirement.
