I am under doctor's orders to eat certain items in my diet and one of these is oatmeal. Do any of you have new and exciting ways to eat oatmeal? Not the instant packet kind either, please. Thank you!
... Now, I prefer a hotter salsa than they used, but that is just me. I would also suggest you make sure to keep the whole product warm until you are ready to eat. [ DangerNerd's advice column | Ask DangerNerd A Question ]
NinjaNeer answered Tuesday February 22 2011, 11:01 am: I love oatmeal... the quick oats (not instant, but not steel-cut).
I always add the oats to the pot at the same time as the water so that it ends up thicker. I don't add milk or anything. If you prefer a creamier texture, you can also add some cream of wheat cereal to it, but personally I don't care for it that way.
Here's a list of the different things I add to oatmeal:
- Frozen berries (added while it's cooking so they thaw)
- A spoonful of peanut butter and a sliced up banana
- Maple syrup and raisins
- Jam (if I don't have anything else in the house)
- Diced apples and cinnamon [ NinjaNeer's advice column | Ask NinjaNeer A Question ]
