driving manual without shifting gears

my moms convertible can be either manual or automatic transmission....
i didnt realize it was in manual and i drove it to the store and back without shifting gears. when i came home the engine was hot and it was making noises.

what can happen to your car if you drive stick shift without changing gears???

is it ruined or will it be okay if i never do it again?

Hi there,

The car needs to be taken to the shop immediately.

What you did has most likely damaged the car to the point of needing repairs.

Stressing the engine and transmission like that can cause sudden failure of either one or both parts.

Imagine this: Your mother doesn't know, so she drives the car and the transmission locks up on her, which sends her out of control into an accident that takes her life.

I am not trying to scare you, but I want you to realize that what you did... was make a mistake... and if you don't tell someone about that mistake, you could be killing someone else. That isn't a mistake, that is something you have the chance to prevent.

Please be honest and get this taken care of before something bad happens.

Thank you for being a good person who knows what she needs to do.
