STD,
There is a chance that you could have Gential Herpes. Genital herpes is an infection caused by a virus (a kind of germ). You get the herpes virus by having sex with someone who has it.
It can be spread by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex. It can also be spread by touching the infected area of someone who has it.
It causes small, painful sores or blisters. The sores can come and go. But once you get herpes, the virus is always in your body. Most people with herpes get signs of the infection. But some people don't.Most people get blisters or sores. They can show up in any of these places:
The vagina or penis
The thighs or buttocks
The mouth
Some people get a painful rash of blisters or sores. Some get only a blister or two that just itch. Some people feel like they have the flu along with the blisters. The sores and blisters will heal. Some people get the sores only once.
Some people get them many times.Herpes cannot be cured. Hope this information helps.

Love Always,
xrebelx

Wow, I'm sorry about the quality of the answers below. A few of the columnists did have it right - and a few more had it partially right. :)

Symptoms for STDs don't show up the next day. The period between contracting a disease and it becoming active (you showing symptoms) is called the "incubation period". Each STD has a different incubation period. Most STDs have a sizable minority (between 10 and 45 percent) of carriers. Carriers have the disease but never show any symptoms at all.

If the sore is white or grey it is quite likely to be a cold/canker sore. Cold sores are a type of herpes that 90% of the US adult population has. I don't know of any studies, but I'm guessing (from talking to people) that most people get it from sharing drinks with their parents in early childhood.

A red sore is likely to be from physical trauma - like having a chip poke into you when you bite down on it.

If you are really worried, or if the sore doesn't match the above descriptions, ask your school nurse or doctor. You don't have to say why your worried - just go in and ask what it is and if there's anything s/he can give you to help it feel better. It's unlikely that there is anything, but it's a good opening line.

It could possibly be an STD and if I were you i would worry but I don't really know how long it takes to show up but you need to consult your physician and another thing your boyfriend should really share is he has an STD or not because he could harm you too. Hope your clean!!!

Devin answered Sunday May 8 2005, 12:34 pm:
How long does it take for an STD to show up? The truth is that there is no concrete answer to that question. Some people carry an infection for years (or a lifetime) and never show symptoms. The chances of an STD exhibiting symptoms the next day are pretty slim, though. Sores usually develop as a result of Herpes (painful) or Syphillis (not painful) infections -- once again, the sore probably wouldn't show up the next day. Keep in mind that the presence of a sore in your mouth increases your chances of contracting an STD through oral sex. I would urge you to use a condom when giving a blow job (at least until the sore heals) and if you're gonna be sexually active, get STD check-ups regularly.

OrionsFire answered Saturday May 7 2005, 6:25 pm:
The chances of any type of STD showing up the NEXT day are VERY slim. Most likely, while you were performing oral sex you pinched a part of your mouth and now it is tender and seems like a sore. Within the week, it will probably be gone and won't show back up.

If you are having reoccuring oral sores, it is most likely oral Herpes, which a good percentage of the population actually has but calls them cold sores. The chances of you getting it from your boyfriend LAST NIGHT is basically NIL...so don't worry about that. In the future, make him wear a condom, even if it is only for oral sex.

LilBSUBabe08 answered Saturday May 7 2005, 5:56 pm:
Ok. To me, this sounds like a cold sore. Cold sores are type A herpes. Type A herpes is something that MANY people have. It is mainly genetic. Now, one important thing to note is that if it is a cold sore, this CAN be spread to the genitals as can Type 2 herpes (since you gave him oral). So. they could both be considered an STD although Type A is not really serious and is very common. Type A and B can both go to both the mouth and genitals so be careful. This is something that I have learned in College in my Health course. If this is a cold sore, I would not give your boyfriend oral while you have a cold sore present, just so that it wont get to his genitals although it wont harm or help him in any way. Find out what exactly it is on your lip. I would see a doctor. Also, to answer the other part of your question, STDs take MONTHS to show symptoms, so I doubt it could be from that specific night, although, if it is a cold sore, your boyfriend may get type A herpes on his genitals. TELL HIM! But also tell him that it is not too serious and it is nothing to worry about. Its just a genetic thing that some people have. Hope this helps!

Does he have herpes? Ask him and see. Always a good idea to look at things before putting them in your mouth! Includes people!

Could be a coincidence. Put some alum (pickling spice) on it and it should be gone tomorrow. It will be VERY sour so just use a little. Works very well though. For future reference...there are some STD's that have absolutley NO SYMPTOMS (for a long time). Always make sure he uses a condom. :)

It could be an STD. I don't know how long the symptoms take to show up. I guess that it would vary depending on the STD. However, you can get several genital STDs in your mouth.

Derfel answered Saturday May 7 2005, 2:10 pm:
How long the symptoms take to show up all depend on the STD but most take quite a long time. If it was just a blow job you where giving him I really wouldn't worry, the chance that your sore has anything to do with the blow job is almost 0! Don't worry! Derfel XX

russianspy1234 answered Saturday May 7 2005, 1:41 pm:
well it really depends on the STD, but most take a long time. umm if you got a sore from giving head, the only STD that i can think of that that could be is herpes, in the mouth it really isnt that big of threat and it goes away. your boyfriend however has it on his penis and as such it is pretty permenant. now there is also a chance that its simply a cold sore which developed on its own, and timing is a coincidence, in which case dont give him any more blowjobs becasue you will give him herpes. my question, you know that there is a chance of getting an STD from oral sex, why arent you using a condom? they have flavored ones that not only protect but make it taste better
