Make Over

Question Posted Sunday December 7 2003, 7:59 am

I'm doing an extreme makeover on myself this holiday break and I need to change my whole style, especially my clothes. I'm in highschool and I've been going there dressed up as though this was elementary school. I'm still suprised no one has ridiculed me for wearing overalls the other day. I'm 6 feet tall and I am not model thin. What styly could help?

Ok, they HAVE been ridiculing you. But at 6 feet....not to your face. As for the styles that would work. Try dark solids, or if you have to have patterns, try patterns that run up and down the body, that will help with the slimming effect.

My cousin was really tall and she had a terrible time finding clothes that fit, especially pants. I know Spacefem is really tall too.

My advice would be to look at fashion sites online--not fancy, schmancy stuff, but casual stuff. Jeans might fit you from the men's department--they're usually comfier, from what I hear. Go for comfort. When you get older, the glitzy stuff you could get now will be less and less worn. Just go for what you feel comfy in, and as long as you like it! And maybe you'll get some cool clothes for Christmas! ;)

You know what. Overalls have their place, but usually they make some people just look dumpy. They are definitely good if you need it for work. Just try something new or different and look at how things fit on you in the mirror. Reading magazines, asking friends, and going to the mall are good. I like thrift stores too for zany accesories.

Hey. I am in highschool too and in the beginning I had the same problem. If you're are not model thin and I'm assuming that you're not fat either. You have the right idea. And let me tell you before hand: NEVER WEAR OVERALLS IN HS! You should have known that. I'm 5'10 and my mother always used to say," Wear the style, that wears your personality." Meaning, whatever is your personality or style just wear clothes that fit it. If you feel gloomy or depressed wear black if you feel happy wear bright colors and I don't mean high yellow and hot pink. Just think and you'll find it. Try browsing around the mall once in a while and go window shopping.
