Advicenators Frequently Asked Questions

General Comments We Get Sometimes

My kid is on advicenators and I'm mad.
We have a lot of members at advicenators, and many of these members are under the age of 18. This site is not targeted towards teenagers or adults, it simply strives to offer life advice to its subscribers through a network of advisors. Many teenaged children have life questions that they are uncomfortable asking their friends or relatives, and Advicenators offers a forum where those questions can be posed and answered in a safe and responsible manner. A range of topics are discussed and, inevitably, sex is sometimes a subject for peoples' concerns. We strive to keep these discussions meaningful and responsible to ensure that our subscribers are receiving the best advice possible.

We try our best to ensure that there is no obscene content on our website but we admit that we are not capable of perfect vigilance over thousands users, and this is why we explicitly state in our terms of service agreement that we are not responsible for the content. Your children will have needed to agree to these terms of service before they were able to register for the website and enter their details. Since they are under eighteen years of age, that means they will have needed to ask your permission first before agreeing to this. Your children also agreed to a statement declaring that they are at least 13 years of age.

If you are convinced that your children should not have access to the Advicenators website, then you can control this situation at home by asking your children to delete their user accounts. Accounts are deleted by filling out the form found on this page:http://www.advicenators.com/deletec.php

This site sucks and everyone on here is stupid.
Well you're on here, aren't you?

Seriously, Advicenators is what you make it. If you think we need some good questions, think up some good questions and post them. If you want the advice to be better, give good advice and come back often. We also have search features so if you're sick of content by kids or adults or women or whatever, you can filter it out. Don't complain to us if you don't like this site... the users make advicenators, so it's your job as a member to make it as smart as you can make it.

And if you still don't like us, you're welcome to run your advice column with visitors from your own website asking you questions and ignore the rest of what's going on here. There's no rule saying you have to read other people's advice columns, or answer public questions, it's just something else to do when you get bored.

I love Advicenators! How can I help you survive?
There are several ways you can help advicenators...

First and most importantly, you can log in every day, ask interesting questions, and give good advice. We depend on our users to make this a site worth visiting.

Second, you can buy a paid account. For a very low cost, you'll get extra features, and you'll be helping us (of course).

Third, you can click the "shirts and stuff" link on the side there and buy some t-shirts. We only make about 50 cents a product on those, but it makes us feel good.

Forth, if you need hosting for a website, you can host it on our server. Details about this are at spacefem.com/hosting.

Fifth, if you see an advertisement you like, don't be afraid to click it. We won't ever tell you to click ads or bug you about them, we're not like that, but most of the money we make comes from people clicking those ads.

This site costs several hundred dollars to run every month. Luckily, it's owner is passionate about the cause and wants to keep it up, and she's also a college graduate with a good job so she doesn't have to go without food to keep the site up. But she's a long way being able to pay server costs without using out of pocket expenses, so any way you can help out is always appreciated.

If we ever do make money on this site, we'll most likely use it to reduce the number of ads you see... we're not doing this to get rich, we're doing it for the good of the community and world and all that. Now isn't that nice? Good then, help us!

This site sucks and everyone on here is mean.
First, we can't do anything about mean people unless you report specific examples. Use our abuse reporting system for that.

Second, we try not to ban people for just being a little mean. If they're attacking or threatening, we ban them. If they're just insensitive, well, that's not a crime. Most of those people have pretty low ratings though, so you can block them out by changing your profile settings to screen out low-rated columnists.
