Advicenators Frequently Asked QuestionsHow do you know if a question is "decent" or not? Like many other sites, we use the "Miller Test" for defining indecency. There are three guidelines used in this test:
- The average person, applying contemporary community standards, would find that the work, taken as a whole, appeals to the prurient interest; (meaning: the question isn't meant for an honest advice columnist just here for fun, it's meant for cruel people who don't take the site seriously and prefer indecent content)
- the work depicts or describes, in a patently offensive way, sexually explicit conduct; (pretty obvious)
- a reasonable person must find the work, taken as a whole, lacks serious literary, artistic, political or scientific value. (meaning: the question doesn't contribute a darn thing to the site).
