Targeted or private questions
Targeted questions are asked to a single advice columnist. Only that columnist can answer the question, but anyone can read it. To ask a targeted question, find a columnist you like and click "get advice" on his or her column, or "ask ___ a question" from the columnist list pages.

If you ask a question to a single columnist, and then give him or her a rating based on that answer, the score doesn't count towards that columnist's rating. Feedback given can still show up on their "feedback" pages, but the rating doesn't count for anything.
