My orthodontist recommended Invisalign. Should I get braces or Invisalign?

Posted Monday March 20 2023, 11:56 am

Invisalign costs the same as braces which is 5,100. I think I need braces, but ortho strongly recommends Invisalign. Does anyone have any experience? Which is the best?

What happened to me?

Posted Wednesday August 24 2022, 10:12 pm

hi long story short a few days ago my mum woke me up screaming and yelling at me. it was about something small and it wasn't even my fault but I quickly got up and stood there while she yelled at me very loudly. suddenly my chest felt so hollow and I don't mean it in a fancy metaphor way but literally, I felt like someone was squeezing my lungs and I couldn't breathe. I started seeing a few stars and my vision was beginning to turn black and it felt like I had to lie down NOW or I would die. thankfully she was done yelling so I left the room and sat on a sofa outside but still, I was in so much pain and couldn't breathe I had to curl into myself and lean on the couch and slowly I started breathing and my vision came back but my head hurt th...

Having a variety of poop issues lately

Posted Thursday August 18 2022, 8:27 pm

I am a 19 year old male if that helps with health advice- lately though when I poop, I notice a number of issues. Can I ask what these may mean?

- The texture is sludgy- not runny/diarrhea but not standard solid poop either- just sludgy almost like that colourful toy slime that kids buy..
- Only the tiniest little bit comes out at time
- despite the tiniest bits actually coming out, I can still physically feel the poop dangling out but it won’t physically come out no matter how hard I squeeze- eventually I end up giving up and just wiping but because of the excess amount of poop (which I know is there because I can physically feel it, and see it when I wipe, it just won’t come out when I squeeze)- I end up ...

My ex left me with hsv 2 and I just found out, what do I do?

Posted Tuesday February 22 2022, 7:24 pm

female 22 years old.
I recently changed primary care doctors and they had me do a bunch of blood tests. Today I went ahead and took it upon myself to look at the results. Everything was fine until I saw I tested positive for HSV 2 and I've never been in such a bad mental state. I've only had one partner in my life and we have a daughter together. He is a deadbeat and cheater. I will never get to experience a normal sex life again. The last time I had sex with him was almost 5 years ago. I have. been abstaining from sex for so many years and when I feel ready to find a partner I find this out. I feel beyond disgusting:( What am I suppose to do now?

Emergency Dental Issue before Road Trip! Help?

Posted Monday December 6 2021, 11:44 am

I’ll try to be as brief as possible, but recently I’ve been having pain on the left side of my mouth when chewing, and I made an appointment with the dentist about it. I had been told before that a tooth on the bottom left in the back was in a bad shape, I think it was that the filling for it was probably going to eventually break or something. I’m in graduate school and really short on money so I had to put that off for now. When I saw the dentist, he looked at my teeth for less than a minute and said I would need root canal and a crown. He said the root canal alone would cost $800, and my insurance (I’m currently on Medicaid) wouldn’t cover either procedure. I had no idea what I was going to do, and leaving me with several unans...

Low blood pressure and low heart rate when i don't sleep enough

Posted Wednesday June 23 2021, 10:57 am

Hi and thanks for reading my post.I am 45 years old, healthy and fit.I sport regularly. My resting bp is usually around 112/72 and my resting heart rate about 60 (laying down in bed and relaxing, meditating).I noticed that if I don't sleep enough in the night, the next day my heart rate is about 50 and bp 100/62.So instead of having a higher bp due to lack of sleep,i am getting a lower one.Any advice, please? Many thanks in advance and stay healthy.

Why does my poop smell like weed?

Posted Saturday May 29 2021, 8:32 pm

I know this sounds really ridiculous but when I was pooping earlier, it had a really strong smell that smelled like weed and I have no idea why- I’ve never smoked weed or experimented with it in my life- I hate drug culture personally (the only reason I know what it smells like is because certain people in my life have used it before) so I wonder why that odor has gotten to my poop, despite me having never used marijuana of any kind before. I’m a 17 year old male if that helps.

Can a doctor force you into a nursing home when you can't care for yourself

Posted Wednesday April 14 2021, 9:47 am

Can my grandmother eventually be forced into a nursing home?

Grandma is 87 years old & can NOT take care of herself. My aunt and my cousins are taking advantage of her. They steal her money. My grandma constantly falls, can barely get up and can’t fix her own food. They say her balance is off. The doctors say she is not safe at home bc she’s falling.

My Aunt and cousins do not want her in a nursing home. They don’t care about her and they steal her money. One of them actually hit her before. My grandmother goes along with whatever they say and doesn’t believe she’s being abused.

My mom and other family members work so no one can watch her 24/7. My mom & others have offered my...

Something was stuck in my teeth for a month

Posted Saturday April 3 2021, 3:05 pm

Yes this is gross . I got a part of of a kernel popcorn stuck in my teeth. I was eating then I realized that the brown part of the corn kept getting tuck in my teeth so I stopped eating and brush my teeth.
I then flossed and saw all the food remains but I still felt discomfort in my mouth. I began flossing before and after brushing my teeth but no improvements. With my tongue I could feel something but when I looked I didn't see anything. At first I thought I had damaged my gum and it will heal . Then last night I began to investigate further and eventually I got the stuff out. Now I am very concern . I have a minute hole in my gum and I have been brushing and salt water rinses to avoid sugars etc from staying there. I'm not sure why else to do . I really don't want bad teeth .

Tips and Support for Weaning off a Antipsychotic Medication

Posted Wednesday February 24 2021, 12:47 am

Hi,

I'm on an antipsychotic and have been medicated against my will for 6 and a half years. I have had severe psychosis in the past but cannot accept the extremely degrading, low-quality life of gaining more weight every month despite healthy living, and not being able to feel happiness despite having great circumstances, that medication creates for me. It also causes slower cognitive functions. I used to be highly creative, and brilliant, and this is now very difficult to access. I've felt like I've been forced to live the very most poisonous thing I could ever imagine for myself, personally. Maybe people without such a need for emotional depth can be comfortable enough without real emotions. I can't. I feel like the me...

Is there any solution to the side effect of dexamethasone?

Posted Tuesday October 6 2020, 1:51 am

About 5 years ago, a friend of mine in order to gain weight after several asthma attack, her cousin told her to use xasten ( it contains dexamethasone) . She said it will help her gain weight.
She ignorantly went to the pharmacy to buy and used it for months without medical supervision, she did gain weight but later on she noticed one side of her face is bigger than the other, she stopped it immediately and the weight started to reduce till she was skinny but still one side of her face is still bigger than the other even tho there is no more fat on her face.
So recently she started gaining weight without using any drug but the face still bother her

Wearing A Mask

Posted Friday September 25 2020, 10:33 pm

I am a home health aide and I recently started working with a new family. There is another aide that works there and she's been there for 3 years. I noticed that the family told me to wear my mask, but they didn't ask her to. Now, I know that she's been there longer than me, but I really don't get the logic of that. Doesn't she have to go home to her family everyday as well, and then expose this family to whoever she's been around? I mean, she doesn't live there. I have no problem wearing my mask, but I'm just confused about why she doesn't have to. Am I wrong to think this way? It's been two weeks and I'm still wearing my mask while she is not. Thanks for the advice

Allergy To Covid Mask Material.

Posted Friday August 28 2020, 10:31 pm

I always wear a mask and gloves no matter the situation when it comes to Covid-19. The problem I am having is that my face absolutely burns the second I put it on. I thought it may have been cotton in the ones people have made for me but the issue appears to be there even with the surgical type of mask that you can buy that looks like what they have in emergency rooms but isn't the same grade.

Does anyone know what I can try? Thus far I suck it up and keep the thing on suffering silently. My face incidentally isn't the only issue. It's been this way for the duration of Covid-19 that my eyes water and get sore and burning itch too to the point I have to find a place to sit down and take glasses off at times.

Covid-19: What can I do to keep from going Stir Crazy?

Posted Friday July 31 2020, 3:29 pm

I live in a house with an 85-year-old who had cancer surgery in March and a 64-year-old mother, a brother in his 30's and a small child. I have been very careful to wear a mask and gloves and obey for the past 5 months every health stipulation to do with Covid-19.

Not to get political because the disease is not a political thing but in the U.S. they've rushed things in some states and the president hasn't helped by denying the existance of it at first and not trusting the experts like Fauci.

One of the things that has led to surge of cases is reopening bars, night clubs and virtually every other business you can think of in some areas. Doing so has resulted in spike of cases and some deaths.
